Owners, Eben Shillingford and Ilana Velazquez, are the brother and sister duo behind this dynamic Tulsa concept. They are first generation American born from immigrant parents who hail from the Caribbean island of Dominica. They both grew up in Tulsa and then pursued separate careers in various fields. Eben has worked extensively in the restaurant industry for over 30 years in both the back of the house and front of the house, opening various concepts and managing for the Hal Smith Group. He has recently been nominated as a James Beard semifinalist for best chef Southwest. Ilana obtained an Accounting degree from the University of Oklahoma and an Interior Design degree from the Art Institute of Miami. She began her career as an accountant with Arthur Anderson and later became the first Interior Designer for the Miami district Cort Furniture. Before opening Sisserou's, she was the CFO of KMS, a Tulsa HVAC mechanical contracting business specializing in geothermal. Together they have created an ode to their culture to share with the Tulsa community and visitors to the area.
